It’s all Arrow’s fault, really. Super-heroes are like the Queen Bees of television nowadays. What with Agents of SHIELD and the soon-to-be-released Arrow spin-off, Flash. Now Fox wants to jump on the bandwagon as well. And what better way to do it than to use one the best known super heroes of all time? So, pretty soon, Batman will be returning to our screens.
But it won’t be in the form of a tight-fitting, kapoow-ing, friendly guy like in the 60′s. Nor it will be like a dark, sinister, throaty voiced business man who looks like Christian Bale. This time, its will be middle-school Batman.
Yup. You read right. Batman is just a kid. It’s sort of an origins story, told from Detective James Gordon’s perspective, during his early days as one of Gotham City’s finest. Rookie Gordon is paired with Harvey Bullock to solve one of the most high-profile cases ever: the murder of the Wayne couple. During his investigation, Gordon meets the Waynes’ son, Bruce, who has been left in the care of his butler Alfred. And guess what? An unlikely friendship is formed between the young detective and the orphan kid, which will help shape the little boy’s destiny.
Apparently, the show will deal with the origins stories of not only Bruce Wayne, but also that of Commissioner Gordon, The Penguin, Joker and Catwoman. If you are interested in seeing Bruce Wayne’s first crush and some teenage angst, this is your perfect cup of tea. If you want to watch procedural shows, there’s Law & Order, Criminal Minds, CSI. Take your pick.
Without Christian Bale’s deep Batman voice, we give one season…
