At least for a month.
Do you remember the orange couch? The cappuccino machine? The spot where Phoebe used to sing “Smelly Cat”? Do you remember Gunther?
Yeah, I bet you do. Well… if you are lucky enough to be in New York City on September 17th, you will be able to see Central Perk open its doors for real, for the first time. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the “Friends” series premiere, Warner Bros. Television Group, Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Eight O’Clock Coffee are teaming up to make your ultimate Friends-fandom dream come true.
Friends premiered on NBC on Sept. 22, 1994. That’s 20 years ago. Can you believe it? So, to mark the occasion, you’ll be able to find Central Perk at 199 Lafayette St. and it will remain open from Sept. 17th through Oct. 18, operating weekdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and weekends from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
As I was and still am a huge Friends’s fan, here goes my little homage: Central Perk best moments!
Joey worked at Central Perk
A lot of humming went down on that couch
Ross and Rachel, everyone’s favorite couple, kissed in there
Phoebe got some cool visitors
As did the orange couch
Everyone sang “Smelly Cat”
