“Dirty Rowdy Thing” review

“Dirty Rowdy Thing” review

This review is late. I know. I’ve read this book a couple of weeks ago. So I might be a little bit late to the review bandwagon. But still… some people might not yet have read this book and this review is to tell them to PLEASE, read this book.

Writing duo Christina Lauren have done it again. You might remember I loved the Beautiful Bastard series, but I didn’t love the first book in the “Wild Seasons” series. So I was a bit apprehensive when I started to read “Dirty Rowdy Thing”, the second book. But I really shouldn’t have been.

Dirty Rowdy Thing is awesome. It has exactly everything I love in the Christina Lauren books. I mean… I think I have found my 2nd favorite after Will Sumner. And that’s saying a lot.

This installment of the “Wild Seasons” series deals with Finn and Harlow’s story. Having been married for 12 hours after that weekend in Vegas, they’ve just seen each other one time. But, having friends in common, hey are bound to see each other again. And, thank God, they do. They are both going through very hard times in their lives, so they first find each other to have a good time and forget about their problems. But, great chemistry and a growing intimacy soon turn this relationship into something more.

Why did I love this book? For several reasons, actually.

Harlow is great. I want Harlow as my friend. This is something I’ve always praised in Christina Lauren’s books, the fact that I love the heroines. They are never annoying, never boring, never useless. They are just awesome. I love reading about them as much as I love reading about the men. She is fun, generous, caring and smart. And I loved reading about her relationship with her dad. That was a nice touch to the story.

Finn. OMG, Finn! It’s a fact: I like reading the man’s POV in a book. I always find the guy’s chapters much more interesting and cute. Finn is a good guy, he cares for his family, he is hard working, he is his own man. He is sweet, sexy, resourceful. I loved seeing how he trusted Harlow when he didn’t even told his friends. I know some people might not have liked Finn because he was way too serious and quite through the book, but I think that only added to his charm. Because we did get to read what was going on in his mind and heart, even if he didn’t talk about it.

The book is fast paced, fun, sweet and sexy at the same time. The banter between them is fantastic!!! This book is so good, I think I read it in less than 2 days, I was so hooked!

Can I do a sort of off-topic comment? Am I sensing a pattern here? Cuz Bennett and Ansel are the kind of workaholics. Max and Finn are sort of the rougher type. And, finally, Will and Oliver are the geeks. Am I right?

By the way, I’m soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo looking forward to Oliver and Lola’s book I can hardly wait!!! That one is going to be fantastic!

80’s kid, 90’s teen. That sums it up quite nicely. Fan of almost everything. There’s not enough room in cyber-space to list everything (or every guy / fictional character I have the hots for), but I’ll try: Outlander book series ultimate fan (‘cuz JAMMF is just perfection), YA and romance novel avid reader, BSB fan to the death. Current TV Shows addiction: Outlander, Game of Thrones, Arrow (I ship Olicity. Hard.), The Big Bang Theory, Marvel Agents of SHIELD. Past addictions: Friends, Glee, Spartacus, Smash, The Tudors, Battlestar Galactica, Lost (I’m an ending-hater). The Hot List: Luke Evans, Gerard Butler, Theo James, Nick Carter, Henry Cavill, Chris Hemsworth, Stephen Amell, Hugh Jackman and I could keep going to infinity. Oh! And I believe in the God of Google!
