That’s it, folks. 2013 is almost over and we are just hours away from the New Year. Besides projects, trips, plans and personal growth, 2014 has me excited as hell! Besides the return of my beloved series from their hiatus, or the premiere of new seasons for old shows (Game of Thrones, I’m talking to you), my Google Calendar is bursting at the seams with release dates, publication dates, season premieres, award shows, the fun that is watching cast interviews while promoting stuff and avant premieres. Jeez! I’m tired just thinking about it! 2014 looks like an epic fandom year!!!
What am I excited for? What do I look forward in this New Year? Let’s see…
1/ Television-wise, we’ll have 16-hour-long episodes for the brand new Outlander TV series!!!
I’ve already started mentally prepping myself for the awesomeness that THAT’s going to be. I’m already stocking on adrenaline shots in case my heart decides to stop and lots of paper bags for when I hyperventilate. We still don’t have a certain date for the premiere of the pilot, though we believe Starz will air it half way into 2014. So we still have another 6 months to suffer and patiently wait.
Speaking about Outlander…
2/ In June 10th we will be able to read “Written in my own heart’s blood”, the 8th book in the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. Knowing her, it will be like a gazillion pages long. But after reading the 7th book’s cliffhangers, I believe I’ll read it in just one sitting! I just have to know what the heck happens!!!
Even though The Hunger Games and Divergent series have come to an end, there are still several books to look forward to in 2014. So start marking those calendars:
3/ April 1st will bring the publication of “The King”, the new book in The Black Dagger Brotherhood by JR Ward. Vampire lovers rejoice!
“Burned”, the follow up to “Iced” in the “Fever” series by Karen Marie Moning will continue the adventures of Mac and Dani. We’ll get to see Christian McKeltar and Jerricho Barrons again!!!
Apparently, there’s gonna be a 3rd book in the “Penryn & The End of Days” series. Oh, Raffe *bats eyelashes* Still haven’t read number 2, though… Bad fangirl. Bad.
July 15th can’t come fast enough for me to read the ending to the “All Souls Trilogy”!!! Deborah Harkness will close Diana Bishop and Matthew Clairmont’s story in “The Book of Life”.
Sherrilyn Kenyon will continue to drive me insane with the 5th book from the Chronicle of Nick series, called “Illusion”, out on April 1st.
Another Kenyon book on September 2nd. “Son of no one”. It’s from the Dark-Hunter series, which I absolutely love. Though… I wonder: we already have a ton of characters in this very long series. Instead of introducing new characters, why doesn’t she just write the stories for the characters we already know and love? Like Savitar? Or Jaden? Or Nick?!?!
4/ Moving on to movies now… 2014 will see me at the cinema quite often!
“The Legend of Hercules”. We’ve talked about this movie before. You know why I (and you) will be watching it.
“Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit”. Still not sold on the idea of Chris Pine as Jack Ryan, but Kenneth Branagh is directing, so…
“I, Frankenstein”. We really didn’t need this new adaptation. But still… I’m going to watch it. Besides, Jai Courtney is in it.
“Winter’s Tale”. Cuz just by the look of it, it totally seems like my cup of tea. And I know I’ll cry my eyes out.
“Pompeii”. It’s a shirtless Jon Snow. We all know why we will be watching it.
“300: Rise of an Empire”. I loooooved the 1st one, so I will definitely go check this one out. Zack Snyder did an amazing job in translating the graphic novel into the big screen.
“Divergent”. Well, duh!
“Captain America: The Winter Soldier”. Marvel Geek to the core.
“X-Men: Days of future past”. The time travel in this one still has me confused.
“Maleficent”. Cuz I’m a Disney Geek
“The Fault in our stars”: Loved the book, gotta see the film. Even if the tagline sucks.
“Guardians of the Galaxy”: Not so sure about this one, seems kinda weird. But it’s Marvel. I’ll be there on opening night.
“Dracula Untold”: Luke Evans + Dracula. Obviously I’ll watch it.
“Mockingjjay: Part 1″: may the odds be ever in your favor! Not sure I like this trend of dividing into 2 the last installment, but… I’m desperate to see these 2 movies.
“The Hobbit: There and Back Again”: The Tolkienite inside my heart wants to see the reclaiming of the mountain, the Battle of the Five Armies, the Black Arrow…
So, what are you most excited for in 2014?
