Everyone has one. Even if you don’t notice it. But we tend to stick to a routine even when we are playing. At least I know I do. But maybe that’s because of my slight case of OCD. But still… Do you have a routine when going online? Which sites do you visit first? Is there a logic behind this routine?
So, first thing’s first, I turn on my computer and while it does all it has to do to finally be online, I go downstairs to pour a cup of tea. When I come back, it’s already available to do some mischief. As soon as I open the explorer, I go to Facebook. The first thing I do, is check out the notifications (both personal and for the blog). Then I scroll down the newsfeed. Here is when things get a little crazy. I start sharing stuff, liking stuff, commenting on stuff, opening articles and videos in new tabs and saving photos to my ever-growing “Downloads” folder.
Then I go through my private groups and the admin section of the blog’s page. Thing is… you kinda never end. Because interacting on Facebook causes new interaction. So while you are going through all the old posts, you see that little notifications number grow. And that little number is like a magnet. I have to know what people liked or commented. So… there you go. And you enter a sort of loop from which it will be very difficult to extract yourself.
Then comes the herculean task of reading every new tab I’ve opened. Oy! Where did you all come from??? But I have to read them. Cuz if there’s something interesting I’ll re-posted. Or do a Blog post about it.
Ok, once that’s done, I open a new tab for Twitter. Cuz I just can’t close Facebook. First come the notifications, obviously. Then a “quick” scroll down the feed. Mayhem again! Liking, re-tweeting, commenting, saving photos and basically squeeing every 3 seconds.
Now comes Instagram. I know I can see the feed on my phone or tablet, but I kinda like seeing the photos on my computer screen cuz they are bigger. =)
Lastly, we I almost have no time left, I open Tumblr. Just for a quick peek and nowing I have a few minutes left. Why? Because Tumblr is a dark hole that sucks you in and consumes your life and never lets you leave. So If I go to Tumblr first, I would never get to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube or Instagram.
