Just a friendly reminder to our readers: you might notice an increasing amount of Outlander-related posts. I’m actually sorry-not-sorry. See, I’m obsessed with all things Outlander and I’m sort of on an Outlander-overdose right now, what with reading the latest book and waiting for the show to premiere. And, let it be known, once the show premieres, Outlander could become the only thing I talk about. So, sorry. If you don’t know what the heck Outlander is or if you don’t care about it (besides the fact that there’s something seriously wrong with you. you should have a doctor see into that), I apologize. I promise I’ll resume the normal posting soon.
That being said…
Today, July 9th is a very important day for us Outlander fans. It’s incredible how things happen. I’m sure this was total and pure serendipity. But there you have it. Today we celebrate 2 things.
First of all, today we set our clocks on the 1 month countdown until the premiere of the show. Yes, 1 month from now, exactly on August 9th, Starz will premiere it’s brand new original series. So, basically, I have just one month to read all the books I want, watch all the movies and series I want and go out with friends. Because once that show airs, I won’t be able to do anything other than watch and re-watch every single episode a 100 times each. Don’t look at me like that. I’m sure you’ll be doing the same thing.
But that’s not all, today also marks the Sam Heughan anniversary. So, ok. I know we kinda celebrated on Twitter this past Saturday because it was when the “unofficial” announcement was made. But the true, official and everlasting announcement was made July 9th, 2013.
Can you believe that THAT was a year ago? I swear I can remember exactly what I was doing that day when my phone vibrated with this Twitter alert. And then my Twitter feed went ballistic and I couldn’t talk about anything else for like a week!
Back then, the series seemed so far away. We had to wait a whole year for “Summer 2014″. And, crazily enough, the day we celebrate the 1 year anniversary of Jamie being cast, we are just 1 little month away from seeing him come to life on our screens.
We’ve been through so much, huh? I remember that I almost screamed when I saw Sam’s first photo! I didn’t like him at all! But it took me all of 10 minutes to fall for him. It was as Diana Gabaldon herself said: as soon as he walked in, he was Jamie. I haven’t even seen him perform as Jamie and already I can’t imagine another actor playing this role.
So let us raise our glasses and make a toast to happenstance. I wish us many more happy coincidences and another 8 season!
