Can you believe it’s been over a month that we’ve had our Jamie Fraser cast? A whole month of seeing Sam post various pics of himself all over the world (thanks you!) and reading the fun banter between him and Diana Gabaldon on Twitter (epic).
Now that our hearts have settled and we are getting used to the idea, Starz goes and does it again. I think they are trying to kill us. Honestly. Today I was at work, minding my own business, when my phone rang and the little bird that tells me something has happened in the Twitter-verse appeared.
First thought: Tobias!!! Like Four! Hahahaha!
Once I stopped being silly, I realized I knew that name. But, from where??? Luckily, the Hollywood Reporter took pity on us brainless people and posted .
Hell, yeah! That’s Edmure Tully from “Game of Thrones”!!! I know him, I know him! I was grinning like an idiot at the office, feeling so full of myself because I knew who he was, not like with Sam Heughan, who I had never heard of.
So, off to text Gwen.
Me: OMG!!! Frank / Black Jack Randall has been cast!!! Is Tobias Menzies! The guy who plays Edmure Tully on Game of Thrones
Gwen: I have no idea who Edmure Tully is, but I just googled him and NOPE.
Nope. Nope. NOPE.
Me: Nope for BJR, but maybe for Frank. We’ll just have to wait and see. I liked him in Game of Thrones

We have a thing for Jason Isaacs playing Black Jack Randall. Ever since we started reading the books, over 8 years ago, Gwen and me and a group of like-minded friends all agreed that Jason Isaacs was the perfect BJR. Come on! He even has the costume and the wig from “The Patriot” movie!!!
Tell me this isn’t Jonathan Randall???
Now that my dream cast has been crushed and stepped all over, I can concentrate on Tobias Menzies.
I did like his portrail of Edmure Tully, but he was a sissy, suck-archer who did as he was told. Can he play sadistic, twisted Jack? I can see him as Frank, but I can’t imagine being this evil piece of work.
He’s English, so that’s good. And Google Images did help a bit.
See? I’m starting to like him. It took me like 11 minutes to love Sam, maybe tomorrow I’ll be completely sold on the idea of Tobias as Frank / Jack. As I said: I’m easy.
Now, one thing has been nagging me at the back of my brain: has he been cast for a longer time and we were just informed?

Interesting, huh? So, if we can have Sean Bean, can he play Dougal McKenzie, please??? At least give me one from my dream cast and I’ll be a happy fan!!! I mean, Dougal even dies a very significant death, so is a character custom made for Mr. Bean, who dies oh-so-well.
We can now go on waiting with bated breath for the announcement of who will be the lucky lass to play Claire.
