Pimp my phone! Apps for the Fandom Obsessed

Pimp my phone! Apps for the Fandom Obsessed

You guys! My phone is telling me that I don’t have any more available space to keep downloading Apps!!!

Seriously! When, how, WHY did that happen? I’m so screwed!!! I just need to have more space for all my stuff!!! I neeeeeed it! And I have most of my photos, videos, GIFs and fandom stuff on the memory card. What to do? What to do? So, it being a Sunday, I decided to go through my Apps to see if I could uninstall some of them (in order to make room for others, mind you). While reviewing my Apps, I realized I had come across a great Blog post: which Apps are the best to keep up with your Fandom ways?

Let’s start with the basics, shall we?

Twitter

Well, duh? How else would you keep yourself informed in 140 characters? Twitter is the best App to follow the news of your favorite shows, movies, bands, artists and gossip. Also, one of the best tools when stalking your current celebrity crush. But the best part? Interacting with other people who are just as crazy as you.

Facebook

If you really need me to explain this… I bet you stumbled on this blog by mistake. Carry on. There’s nothing for you here.

Instagram

Not only will you squee whenever a blogger or fansite posts a picture, but you’ll also suffer from mini-seizures every time the celebrity you have a crush on posts a selfie. Besides the stalkerish uses of this App, it’s great for following movies, tv shows, news feeds. I’m currently following the account for the Outlander TV series production and it’s amazing to see what happens behind the scenes.

You Tube

Want to watch the latest trailer as soon as it comes out? Want to watch the live streaming for a Fan Event while at the office or commuting back home? Just have your heart pills at hand for whenever the screen freezes on you.

Now let’s move on with other nifty little Apps

Goodreads

For my fellow bookworms, this is like the Holly Grail. It helps with the eternal question “what do I read next”? But you can also keep up with the books you’ve read, mark down the ones you want to read and follow other users for recommendations. You can keep track of how far ahead you are on the book you are currently reading, participate on a Reading Challenge, review and rate books and be a part of some specific Group.

IMDB

This should be your Bible in all things movie and TV!!!

BIDB

If you are a theater buff, this is your App. More specifically, for Broadway shows. Is a database (much like IMDB) where you can search for shows, dates, cast, awards and whatnot.

TV Show Time

The perfect App for TV show fans. This will help you keep track of the TV shows you watch and talk to other fans of the shows. This App will be your best friend to remember where you left off each show and when they are coming back (specially after those bloody hiatus!). You just have to create an account, select the shows you are currently watching (you can do it with shows that have already ended, in case you are binge-watching old series). Then mark the season and episode you last watched and… voila! “My TV Show Time” is now your dash board where you can see which episodes are coming up and when, watch trailers, talk to other users and see your stats (how many episodes you are still missing, how many hours you’ve spent watching a show…)

Pulse

This App is amazing for following multiple RSS Feeds and Blogs in a single page. You can customize it and create different lists for different topics.

Flipboard

Flipboard is a magazine-format App which collects content from social media and other websites you choose, and presents it in magazine format, that allows users to “flip” through their social-networking feeds and other websites.

Huh… Now I see why there’s no more available space in my poor phone…

80’s kid, 90’s teen. That sums it up quite nicely. Fan of almost everything. There’s not enough room in cyber-space to list everything (or every guy / fictional character I have the hots for), but I’ll try: Outlander book series ultimate fan (‘cuz JAMMF is just perfection), YA and romance novel avid reader, BSB fan to the death. Current TV Shows addiction: Outlander, Game of Thrones, Arrow (I ship Olicity. Hard.), The Big Bang Theory, Marvel Agents of SHIELD. Past addictions: Friends, Glee, Spartacus, Smash, The Tudors, Battlestar Galactica, Lost (I’m an ending-hater). The Hot List: Luke Evans, Gerard Butler, Theo James, Nick Carter, Henry Cavill, Chris Hemsworth, Stephen Amell, Hugh Jackman and I could keep going to infinity. Oh! And I believe in the God of Google!
