Stalkers r’ us

Stalkers r’ us

We’ve all done it. Don’t try to hide it. It’s in our nature. Whenever we are obsessed about someone or we have a celebrity crush, we tend to follow them night and day. Innocently, of course. It’s just what we do. At least… I do.

Back when I was young, in the dark ages known as the pre-Google era, stalking celebrities was hard work. You had to put all your horny little neurons to the task. Stalking was a full-time job.

If you promise not to call the police on me, I’ll tell you a little story…

Picture an awkward, late 90’s teenager, obsessed over her favorite boy-bander who shall remain unnamed (for his own security and mine, you’ll understand). Together with my friend at the time (who was as much a fangirl as I was) we managed to get said boy-bander’s home address. Yeap, we were THAT good (and we had THAT much time in our hands). In a Sherlock-worthy investigation involving a big map, an unauthorized biography and a phonebook, we hit the jackpot.

So, after weeks of hardworking investigation, what could we do with our new-found treasure? Nothing. Absolutely nooo-thing. Come on! What? As if we would go over there and ring the bell!!! But… if I recall correctly, we did phone him a couple (dozen) times and left messages on his answering machine. And we might have also recorded tapes of us talking to him and mailed them to his home. Quite possibly we did that… (Yeah, tapes. Like in “cassettes”. You young things may not have a clue of what I’m speaking of. Is that thing we 80’s kids use as a phone case nowadays. Let me illustrate: )

The point is: we had to really stretch out stalking legs. Back then, getting info was difficult. You had to wait whole days until you found anything out. You had to pour yourself over endless local newspapers who couldn’t care less if Brian Littrell was having open-heart surgery.

But nowadays things are perfect. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and every other social media makes our job soooooo much easier. Even celebrities “invite” us to “follow them”. No need to ask twice!

Social Media is every fangirl’s dream!!! You are friends with them on Facebook, you see their photos on Instagram and you get really excited whenever Twitter’s little bird announces that he has just posted a 140-stop-the-presses-message.

Now, imagine if that guy you lust for used Foursquare??? OMG, the possibilities!!!

Don’t know if I should be grateful or not… On the one hand, not having Internet while growing up made my fandom impulses way to hard to carry on. On the other hand, that probably saved me from writing this from jail.

So, do you follow your celebrity crushes on every Social Media available???

80’s kid, 90’s teen. That sums it up quite nicely. Fan of almost everything. There’s not enough room in cyber-space to list everything (or every guy / fictional character I have the hots for), but I’ll try: Outlander book series ultimate fan (‘cuz JAMMF is just perfection), YA and romance novel avid reader, BSB fan to the death. Current TV Shows addiction: Game of Thrones, Arrow (I ship Olicity. Hard.), Glee, The Big Bang Theory. Past addictions: Friends, Spartacus, Smash, The Tudors, Battlestar Galactica, Lost (I’m an ending-hater). Future obsessions: Outlander on Starz, obviously. The Hot List: Gerard Butler, Theo James, Nick Carter, Henry Cavill, Chris Hemsworth, Jai Courtney, Stephen Amell, Hugh Jackman and I could keep going to infinity. Oh! And I believe in the God of Google!
