Still freaking out over the Outlander trailer? So are we!!!

Hello there, my Outlanders. How are you felling? Still walking on clouds? Haven’t come back to Earth since Saturday afternoon? Don’t worry. You are not alone. I believe I haven’t thought about anything else for the last couple of days. And if my Twitter and Facebook feeds are any indication, you are all doing the same.

Saturday’s panel was awesome. Seeing and listening to Diana is always brilliant. Ron is my new God. Sam is hot and sweet. I have a new girl crush on Caitriona. But! Can we talk about the really important stuff for like 5 minutes? The trailer. Oh my Gosh, that trailer! I know, I know. Every time someone mentions the trailer you have to squee. I’ll give you a minute. Done? Good, ok.

I read somewhere on Twitter a newspaper article that said that thousands of fans flocked to LA to watch a 60 seconds trailer. But, if you think about it, for us, it is not just a mere 60 seconds. Each image we saw means so much more that what’s on screen. We know exactly what’s happening even though the image lasted 1 nanosecond on screen. We know what the characters are thinking. What they are feeling. We know what happened before and what will happen afterwards. We know the fate of every character that appeared on those 60 seconds. So, if you think about it, those 60 seconds last a lifetime for us.

Wanna watch it again? I Thought so. He it goes. Indulge.

Oh! And someone had the most brilliant idea like E-V-E-R. Doing it in slo-mo. Just brilliant.

We here at Fandom Obsessed just had to analyze every single detail. So we tried to clear our heads (and failed miserably), and we did what we do best: fangirl.

ALLY: OMG, YOU GUYS!!! We finally have a teaser trailer for Outlander! I swear I cried when I first saw it!!! Can we talk about how epic this is??? I’m freaking out since Saturday, please join me in fangirling over here!!! I loved it! If this is any indication of how the show will be, it will be awesome!!! The costumes, the sets, the actors, everything is spot on! It’s just as I imagined it would be. One thing I didn’t like? Too little Jamie in the teaser. LOL! I mean, come on! 99.9% of your audience are horny females (like me). Please show us more of Jamie!!!

WENDY: Marketing strategy. Sometime less is better, so you crave for more. I love the costumes, props, casting and the way it was photographed. Every tiny scene they showed us. I must admit I wasn’t 100% sure about Sam as Jamie. But the trailer proved me wrong. The young Jamie is Sam. And the couple together looks amazing!  It fits perfectly with the images built in my head a long time ago when I read Outlander for the first time.  Can’t wait for the premiere. I’m heating my engines reading some of the scenes again!

ALLY: You could be right. By not showing us so much of Jamie, we grow crazier and crazier every day. But that could be dangerous as well. We are a crazy group of fans, hahaha! I really like Sam as Jamie, and I haven’t seen him actually “be” Jamie. But the photos are amazing and the trailer was perfection. Just the 2 seconds they showed him riding a horse and screaming “Tulach Ard” made me shiver. I still can’t believe I’m seen my favorite book come to life. I’m so excited about seeing the characters, hearing the quotes… Just seeing the teaser was incredible. I swear I can recognize each small scene they showed!!!

GWEN: I just have one complaint: IT WAS SO SHORTTTTT. I want mooooore. I need moooooreeeeee!!! I liked it that they didn’t show a lot of Jamie in this one. This is just the first tiny teaser, so I think they’re saving the good stuff for later. It was just a few glances, and it was enough for me. I have to confess, I still haven’t warmed up to this Jamie, even with the production photos and stuff, but I know that once the show is on the road, I’ll love him. It’s just that after so many years of reading and re-rading the books and how much I adore the story, Diana’s writing, and the characters, it’s like no one is good enough to even come close to what the whole Outlander Universe is in my mind. I just need to lower my expectations a bit and let go. I know that by the end of the first episode I’m going to be hooked!!! I love Caitriona for Claire, but she could be a biiiiit more “heavy”, if you will. Jaime’s always making references to her ample behind in the books, so you have a slightly bigger body in mind when you think of Claire. But everything else is just perfect. I think I cried when they show Castle Leoch for the first time!!

ALLY: Yeah, I agree. Give our Claire a damn sandwich, please! Hahaha! But, no, really. I love Caitriona Balfe as Claire. I have a huge girl crush on her after Saturday’s panel. You still haven’t warmed up to Sam as Jamie? Are you kidding me? Did you see the look that Sam gives Caitriona on the one tiny little shot they have together? SMOLDERING!!! My God! How did Claire not melt?!?!

OutlanderTeaser22

What do you think? This shot is from when Claire sets Jamie’s shoulder on the road or when they arrive at Castle Leoch and changes his bandages? I think it’s from Leoch. When she sees his back scars for the first time and then she just starts crying and sits on his lap while he whispers in Gaelic and she says something like “Now I understand how he is so good with horses. If I were a horse, I’d let him ride me anywhere”. I hope they leave that quote just like that!!!

So after going on and on about how hot Sam is and how great Caitriona is, we put our big girl pants and talked seriously (for like, a minute). Let’s break it down scene by scene.

OutlanderTeaser01

Craigh na Dun. Where everything starts. This shots are beautiful. Don’t tell us you didn’t get goosebumps and shivers when you saw this?

OutlanderTeaser02

We watched this over and over again. At first we thought that this was Claire at Leoch, but… as the first few images are from the 1940′s and, if you look closely you can see a mirror on the back wall, this has to be from when Claire is at the B&B waiting for Frank and the lights go out. Before the storm. You know what this means if we are right? THE GHOST IS STANDING JUST OUTSIDE HER WINDOW!!! *dies*

OutlanderTeaser03

Nice. We all know about Claire and Jamie’s love. But we tend to forget that Claire was really in love with Frank. This image is perfect to reminds us of that and why she fought so hard to go back to her time. Frank’s a 50/50 character. Sometimes you love him and sometimes you hate him.

OutlanderTeaser04OutlanderTeaser05

The images from the war are perfect. And it’s great that they mixed it with Dougal doing battle on a horse. The fact that they’ll start of the 1st episode with Claire being a combat nurse is brilliant. They set her character in about 3 seconds.

OutlanderTeaser06

OMG! We can’t breath!!! Arriving at Castle Leoch. Just as we imagined it. Is as if they plugged a machine to our heads and got the mental images right out of our brains. Him wrapping his plaid around her. We know you all remember every single thing that happens while they are riding together (we do). We’ll need a huge box of tissues for this show.

OutlanderTeaser07

YES, CLAIRE, YES!!! GO THROUGH THE DAMN STONES!!!

OutlanderTeaser08

Is that Claire telling Mrs Fitz that she has fallen through time? Huh…

OutlanderTeaser09 OutlanderTeaser10

TULACH ARD!!! Jesus! We almost died here! This sequence of them meeting during that little fight is going to be off the roof. We will all be screaming at our TVs! It’s still so surreal to actually be watching this. We have read the words Tulach Ard so many times that actually hearing them for the first time is out of this world.

OutlanderTeaser11 OutlanderTeaser12 OutlanderTeaser13

Red Coats and Black Jack Randall arriving at Lallybroch. The flashbacks will be so hard to watch. But Tobias Menzies is spot on. And Jenny is incredible. And Lallybroch, our home away from home. We always imagined it a bit smaller. It’s actually huge!!!

OutlanderTeaser14

Huh?… Dougal grieving over Rupert’s dead body? What do you think?

OutlanderTeaser15 OutlanderTeaser16

Pagans! Pagans! Just to think that cute, proper, little Mrs Graham is there is so much fun!

OutlanderTeaser17 OutlanderTeaser18

Our new girl crush is perfection. Her milky white skin, the hair and that dress!!! We can see lots of tugging and ripping ahead for that dress. Luckily, it ties on the front. Lol!

OutlanderTeaser20

Flashback to Lallybroch, right? Sam IS Jamie. It’s just incredible.

OutlanderTeaser21

Flowers on the wallpaper? That’s definitely Claire and Frank at the B&B.

OutlanderTeaser22

Let’s take a minute to appreciate that smoldering look. Not only will we need tissues for watching the series, we will also need a fire extinguisher.

OutlanderTeaser23

We loved that she pronounced Beauchamp with the English pronunciation instead of the French one!!! So true to the book!

Tell us the truth: you also did a scene by scene analyses, right? We are not alone in our crazyness!!! We should start a support group, cuz we won’t survive the premiere of the first episode, let alone a whole 16 episode season. May the force be with you!

I don’t think that is Dougal with Rupert – it is Dougal with Geordie after Geordie was gored by the boar. Rupert doesn’t buy the farm until late in the book and they’ve only filmed 4 episodes.
