I know I haven’t been doing the recaps for the latest Reign episodes and I’m sorry. It was actually a lot of fun doing it, but it took a looooot of time (that sadly, I don’t have). But that doesn’t mean I stopped watching the show. Oh, no. I felt for poor sad puppy Francis when he saw Mary and Bash ride away. And I gasped when Clarissa stabbed hot Nostradamus in the throat (ha! Guess he didn’t see that coming!).
But now that the important stuff is starting to happen (mainly “Mash” for all us shippers), we can concentrate on the really important aspect of Reign: the clothes.
It all started with the crazy headbands back from the pilot. But stuff just getting better in the show. The gowns the girls use are to die for! The are as historical accurate as Marie Antoniette wearing Converse, but who cares? Haven’t you watched an episode an thought “Ooh! That’s gorgeous! Wish I could wear it for my cousin’s wedding”? Well… apparently… you can (if you have a ton of money or are willing to part with your head).
The show’s costumes designer, Meredith Markwork-Pollack, is clearly period-inspired but adds a 21st century twist to these Renaissance teens. She uses everything from Dolce & Gabbana, Naeem Khan, Oscar de la Renta, Alexander McQueen to Free People. Even some online shopping at Net-a-Porter or The Outnet. Too bad there wasn’t any nail art back then…
Shall we do a little shopping then?
This pretty, flowing white gown that Mary uses in the pilot is from
Look!!! You can buy Kenna’s slutty nightgown? Remember the one?
Yup. That one. It’s from .
This sexy, gorgeous black dress:
Is by Basil Soda
Do these 2 dresses look alike?
Yup. Cuz they are one and the same. By the genius Alexander McQueen.
Looks familiar?
That’s because Mary wore this J. Mendel gown with a huge red roses headband.
That very Michael Jackson jacket Marry wore when staring into the sea with the Portuguese dude?
Another gem by Alexander McQueen
When Mary was playing dress up at the mask ball… she wore this stunning gown
Which is a couture gown by Basil Soda from their Spring 2013 collection
During last week’s episode Mary got really fashionista when she wore an Oscar de la Renta top with a Roberto Cavalli Snake-motif Mirrored Leather Waist Belt
And when Bash asked Mary to take her clothes off (because they were wet. Don’t get your hopes up), she was wearing this cute Embroidered Off the Shoulder Maxi
