Are the marketing people for the Divergent movie trying to make up for all the bad reviews and comments for Allegiant? Because these days, they are going out of their way to make us happy. Every day there’s a new thing for us to fangirl about. And, even though I was disappointed with the 3rd book, I’m actually excited about the movie. Divergent was a really good book, and (from what little we’ve seen) it looks like they did a pretty good job with the adaptation.
So, in their effort to keep us hyped, yesterday was the release of the first official poster. Not the character posters, but the full blown movie poster. If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s probably because you don’t stalk the right people on Twitter. Shame on you.
Can we discuss a couple of things?
1/ Awesome background! Is it wrong that I wanna visit dystopian Chicago? It looks pretty good. But what the heck are all those cables between the buildings? Are they described in the books and I was so enthralled by Four that I don’t remember them? Or are the Dauntless not so original and everyone zip-lines all the time? It’s great how they did a very dark city with a clear sky. The contrast looks incredible. And the genius who thought of placing the rising sun behind the Ferris Wheels deserves a medal. Everyone and their mothers are waiting for that scene.
2/ Did Shailene step out of a L’Oreal commercial? Honestly… Why does she have to look like a glamazon? Shailene is a gorgeous girl, why Photoshop her? And that much? I know the poster has to be striking, but come on! Between the boobs, the ass and the hair, it kinda reminds me of…
3/ Ok, moving on… Finally, let’s talk about Four. Hello there, Four! Looking good! Though… can you breath in that tight shirt? Not that I’m complaining but… Oh! And should you be up there? Aren’t you like, afraid of heights? And (last question, I promise), is it weird that I’m obsessed with his hands? The one thing I don’t like about this poster is that Theo’s head is right next to Shailene’s ass. I can’t edit the poster and just use Theo’s photo for this post banner, which makes me sad.
But that’s not all. As we not so patiently wait for the trailer to be released today, the good people at decided to post online the character profiles:
