Drowning in a world of Outlander news and loving every minute of it

If you haven’t heard about the TV adaptation for the first Outlander movie that is taking place right now, is because you’ve been living under a rock for the last couple of months. Please exit this blog. You have no right to be consuming our megabytes.

But, if you are willing to give it a try, let me warn you that it is highly addictive. You’ll love me (cuz, what’s there NOT to love about Outlander?) and you’ll hate me (there are 7, 1,000-pages long books, the 8th is coming out next year and there’s gonna be a 9th). Once you start reading the books, your life will cease to have a daily routine, you won’t bathe, you won’t do anything non-Outlander related. If you have kids, please hand them the phone and a take out menu or they’ll starve. I don’t want to be responsible for any kid’s malnutrition.

Now, if you are an Outlander fan already…. OH-EM-GE!!! Right? There are so many goodies lately that I just can’t even!!! Please tell me you’ve been hyperventilating like I have this last couple of days? I swear I can’t keep up with all the news. And the show is not coming out until March next year! BTW, do we have a season premiere date already? Because I just NEED to know like, yesterday! I swear I sometimes feel like opening an Outlander spin off to this blog.

Since last Friday, I’ve been bouncing off the walls with all the news going around. The Outlander buzz in Internet is growing to a frenzy and now that the filming of the series is underway, the ever productive stalkery fans are proving themselves once again. If you have an actual life that prevents you from squee-ing every time there’s a new casting announcement (sucks, right?) or if you haven’t set a Twitter alert for every #Outlander related Tweet out there (honestly, why haven’t you?), I’ll do a quick (not) recap for y’all.

For NYCC, Starz built a stand where they put some miniature models for Claire’s room in Leoch, the Great Hall at Leoch and the farmer’s cabin where she set’s Jamie’s shoulder. Each of those models had a page from the episode’s script (exciting much?). The first episode will be called “Sassenach” and the second one “Castle Leoch”.

On Friday October 11th, Diana Gabaldon and Ron D. Moore sat for a Panel at New York Comic Con. Noy being one of the lucky fans to actually be there, I did the next best thing: glued myself to Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Let me tell you, it was a lot of fun. Sharing that waiting time with the rest of the eager fans, waiting for the first Tweet out from any of the attendees, receiving every piece of info as if it was manna from heaven, was great. I want to thank the rest of the Twitter fan with whom I shared that experience!!! We learnt quite a few things:

- Ron D. Moore wore a kilt (way to go, dude! You won every fan’s heart!)

ron-kilt

- The panel started with a “sizzle” reel of some behind the scenes footage, guys in full 1700′s Highlander costume, sword fight training, shooting from pistols, horse back riding, a redhead Sam Heughan speaking in Gaellic (le sigh) and then some short greeting by Sam and Caitriona Balfe for all the fans there, saying that they couldn’t be in NYC because they were filming in “bonny Scotland” and then Sam put his arm around Caitriona’s neck and said “come on, sassenach!”. Yeah, you guessed it. The whole floor started screaming their heads off. Who wouldn’t? The video, you’ll be able to watch in another video I’ll post a bit farther ahead. For now, just a teaser:

sassenach

- Some very generous fan filmed the panel, so we less fortunate souls can actually watch it:

Let’s comment on some things that are on the video and some others that i read on Twitter on Friday:

1/ Loving the fact that Ron’s wife is a fan of the books.

2/ I feel so at ease knowing that Ron spent 2 days at Diana’s house picking her brains and her telling him things she knows about the story that aren’t necessarily in the books (things, obviously, that I’m now dying to know myself)

3/ “Faithful adaptation”… aaahhh…. music to my ears…

4/ The concept art was phenomenal! I’m so loving this show already!!! Don’t you? The idea of Frank and Claire visiting Castle Leoch’s ruins was amazing!  They are using Doune Castle for the exterior shots.

- Some things that we got to know (that aren’t on the video) is that the 16 episodes will be 1 hour long each and they’ll cover the first book in the series. Diana is most excited about seeing the “wedding night” scene come to life (well, duh!). The series will be from Claire’s POV, but they will add some thinks from other perspectives. Like, they’ll do the Black jack Randall – Jenny – Jamie scene in front of Lallybroch from Jamie’s POV as a flashback scene. There’s gonna be more of BJR and more of Claire and Frank’s relationship, for the audience to understand why the heck she wants to go back to him instead of staying with the hot highlander.

On Saturday Starz did a Fan Event where the people who went there were able to watch the sizzle reel (you can see it in the link that follows) and had a Q&A with Diana and Ron. There are some photos on the .

Lots of goodies in the vid!!!

Still want more info, you greedy little thing? Done! Here’s a video from the Press Room Round Table:

Then, the news came for the casting of . And then… BAM! Pandemonium! They started shooting on location and exterior shots and all hell broke loose!!! Thankfully, at least for us, eager and desperate fans, some people got to take photos of the shooting. Yay!!! I’m trying to credit all the sources, but the photos are all over the Internet now, so sometimes is hard to find the actual source. If I’m missing anyone, please forgive me and let me know.

Too much for you to process? Alright, I’ll give you a minute. If after you’ve recuperated you still want more, I invite you to do a quick Twitter and Facebook search. I’m sure I’ve missed some goodies. But there have been so many I just can’t keep up! Though, one thing is for sure. If I’m going ballistic with this photos, I’m going to loose my marbles when we finally get to see some photos of Sam as Jamie!!! *fans herself in anticipation* Cuz, really. We some some photos from a night shoot in Falkland, with wind and rain, and everyone is going on about if that’s the ghost scene. But we didn’t get to see Sam! Only some rain machines and big fans. Boo-hoo…

Oh! There were also some photos from Craigh Na Dun, with Mrs Graham and the group of druids, but they erased them (damn!).

Can’t stop grinning like a lunatic? Join the club!!!

80’s kid, 90’s teen. That sums it up quite nicely. Fan of almost everything. There’s not enough room in cyber-space to list everything (or every guy / fictional character I have the hots for), but I’ll try: Outlander book series ultimate fan (‘cuz JAMMF is just perfection), YA and romance novel avid reader, BSB fan to the death. Current TV Shows addiction: Game of Thrones, Arrow (I ship Olicity. Hard.), Glee, The Big Bang Theory. Past addictions: Friends, Spartacus, Smash, The Tudors, Battlestar Galactica, Lost (I’m an ending-hater). Future obsessions: Outlander on Starz, obviously. The Hot List: Gerard Butler, Theo James, Nick Carter, Henry Cavill, Chris Hemsworth, Jai Courtney, Stephen Amell, Hugh Jackman and I could keep going to infinity. Oh! And I believe in the God of Google!
